A deep childlike pleasure
A deep, childlike pleasure,
Is not an easily found treasure.
As we grow up with our lives,
We worry about our jobs, we worry about our wives.
Our shoulders carry so much of weight,
We forget the joy of scribbling on a slate.
To the rules and trends of the world we cling,
Abandoning the laughter and glee of the swing(s).
Troubled, we sit analyzing the cause of the pain,
When all we really miss is, well, a walk in the rain.
So let’s all stop falling in the trap,
Instead let’s sing, let’s dance, let’s pop a bubble wrap.
Peel glue off your arms, cuddle with your pet,
Play childish games, feel a little sweat.
Enjoy the little things that give you joy beyond a measure,
Let the deep, childlike pleasure,
Be a dearly cherished treasure.
